In this exhibition titled "Source of Fortune", BARC is creating new relics that show an ancient history of a mythology he has been forming through years of world building. In this body of work you will find sculptural idols that represent deities who's stories are told through paintings. Paintings that reveal interactions between a society of people that worship things beyond themselves. Join us on a journey to view and participate in a ritual experience presented by Forcefield Art Space.
BARC's new works in glazed stoneware, wood, and painting are a homage to artifacts he has encountered in establishments such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art and The Cloisters as well as cultural references to precolonial Filipino animistic traditions. These works blend with imagery from BARC's contemporary painting style to create a modern mythology steeped with mysticism.
