Opening: October 12, 2025
Solo Exhibition at Secret Fresh Gallery
Giant monster movies are typically made as allegories of national disaster and war. “Monsters of Manila” is BARC’s way of paying homage to friends who have helped him through his journey in Manila. The exhibition also serves as a statement to the world that in the Philippines there are indeed giant monsters that roam.
In this episode of BARC the infamous blue dog seen painted out on the streets around the world pissing on walls has transformed into a giant monster now stomping on those same streets. Through paintings, sculpture, animation and installation BARC brings local icons such as stray cats, jeepney, and characters of his peers to a monumental scale destroying the city. Each painting features intricately designed titles serving as an homage to letters of graffiti and BARC’s background in Art Direction.
Monsters of Manila, is part of the ever expanding world of BARC where in each exhibition he uses narrative storytelling which allows the viewer to imagine an entire movie through the various mediums he works with.
